WESTERPLATTE
Westerplatte is a peninsula in Gdansk. It is the place which was invaded by Germany on 1st September 1939 and where World War II started. As a result of the invasion, the Battle of Westerplatte took place there and Polish soldiers fought for 7 days until they were forced to surrender. Because of what happened there this place and the date is extremelly important to Poland and Polish people as it was the very first place where Nazi cruelty started and spread across Poland, Europe and the rest of the world.
