The National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh

The National Museum of Scotland is located in the centre of the city in Chambers Street. You can find out about Scottish history, science and technology, different cultures and natural world there. It is definitely worth visiting.

Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, Scotland

Edinburgh Castle is located in the centre of the city and was built on a volcanic rock. It is a symbol of Edinburgh which nowadays is a popular tourist attraction and a home to the Military Tattoo. 

The castle is situated on the huge volcanic rock

Annually at the end of the Edinburgh Festival and on New Year's Eve there is a firework display from the castle.

Calton Hill, Edinburgh

Calton Hill is situated in the centre of Edinburgh and can be easily reached from the eastern part of Princes Street. It is a great place to walk and admire the panorama of Edinburgh as the views from the hill are really amazing. There are benches so you can sit down and have your lunch, read a book or just admire the beauty of the city. The hill includes few monuments and buildings like the National Monument, the Nelson Monument, the Dugald stewart Monument, the Old Royal High School, the Robert Burns Monument, the Political Martyrs' Monument and the City Observatory

The National Monument of Scotland is an unfinished building which commemorates Scottish soldiers and sailors who died in the Napoleonic Wars. The monument was modelled upon the Parthenon in Athens.

Grassmarket, Edinburgh

Grassmarket, which is located at the foot of the castle, is a square in the Old Town of Edinburgh with lots of pubs, restaurants, small shops and hotels. 
  




You can get to the castle through Granny's Green Steps.

If you want to get to the Royal Mile, why not to take West Bow and Victoria Street which are so picturesque.
